Christine Hopkins Shares About Galveston In Her New Book
Local Expert Shares Her Best Tips For Galveston
Christine Ruiz Hopkins
Christine is a proud BOI. To locals, this means she was
“Born on the Island.” She was raised in Galveston and began working in the
island’s tourism industry when she was 15 years old as a water slide attendant
at the now-demolished Sky Rapids Water Slide at Stewart Beach. Read more about
her tips for Galveston throughout the website.
For more than 25 years, she’s worked in travel and tourism
promoting Galveston. Her tourism background makes her a “local expert” for
Galveston Island. She’s written more than 300 blogs on Galveston offering
travel tips on what to see and do. Over the years, she’s given hundreds of
tours for visiting travel writers showcasing the sites on the island.
Christine is the co-author of 100 Things to Do in
Galveston Before You Die, released in April 2020. This book is part of a
nation-wide series published by Reedy Press. Her book, 100 Things offers
a “bucket list” of ideas to check off your list during your visit. Order your signed
copy before your stay.
Additionally, Christine is a local guide for Tours By
Locals. After taking a private tour in Amsterdam, she decided to share her love
of Galveston and knowledge by locally offering this service. Her private
walking tours are limited to no more than six participants and take place in
Galveston’s historic downtown. She has partnered with Ryson Vacation Rentals to
share all of her knowledge and tips.
