Galveston Island offers something to do for everyone. Descend to one of the sandy beaches of Galveston by the legendary Galveston Seawall and leave the traffic behind while you enjoy swimming, surfing, and sunbathing. Freshly caught seafood graces the tables of many popular locally run Galveston restaurants. With Galveston Bay on the north side of the island, and the Gulf of Mexico on the south side, you have numerous prime Galveston fishing spots. Drop a line and enjoy yourself. There are several bait shops located conveniently around the island.  You can also impress your guests with freshly caught blue crab with a little patience and no more effort than tying a string around a turkey’s neck. 

If the ocean isn’t your thing, check out downtown Galveston’s Historic District. If you find yourself wanting a more thrilling experience, check out the Historic Galveston Island Pleasure Pier. It’s a theme park on stilts! Located on a pier jutting out into the Gulf, you can see the bright colorful lights blinking from the full sized Ferris wheel and roller coasters every night. Or check out the Schlitterbahn water park for a day of water-soaked fun without the sand and salt. There is also fun for all ages at Moody Gardens Galveston. Learn fascinating new things at the Discovery Museum, see thousands of different marine animals in the Aquarium Pyramid, or explore a rainforest habitat from the canopy to the forest floor in the Rainforest Pyramid. You can also take a ride on an authentic paddleboat or catch the latest in visionary technology in the facility’s state-of-the-art 4D special FX Theater.
