Galveston’s 61st Street Fishing Pier
Are you the type that loves spending the entire day fishing?
If not, have you ever been interested in doing so? Whether do you it
alone or with a group of friends or family, Galveston’s 61st Street Fishing
Pier is a premier Galveston spot for doing just that. It’s a one-stop shop for
everything you need to have a great time fishing. What’s even better is that
it’s open 24/7, so you can fish any time of day or night. Come see what you can
catch!
Fun for the Whole Family
There’s plenty for fish-loving families to enjoy here at
61st Street Pier. Conveniently located on Seawall Boulevard (at the very end of
61st Street), the pier offers everything you could need for a comfortable day
of fishing. Snacks, drinks, simple meals, and souvenirs are all available for
purchase here, so you don’t even have to leave when you get hungry. Alcohol
must be bought at the pier, and since this is a family destination, partiers
who get too rowdy will be asked to leave. So as long as you can behave, you’re
more than welcome to enjoy yourself at the 61st Street Pier.
The Details
Admission to the pier is paid by the day, with wristbands
expiring at 6:00am. Those who want to fish in the wee hours of the morning can
get a discount, though new wristbands must be purchased to stay after 6:00am.
Fully-equipped fishing rods can be rented at the pier, and a variety of bait is
available for purchase as well. A maximum of two rods per person is allowed,
with rod length not to exceed 10 feet. Anglers are allowed to bring small carts
(less than 3’6” long) onto the pier to transport their chairs and other
belongings. No glass containers are permitted, pets or sleeping is allowed on
the pier. And of course, anglers over 17 must have a valid fishing license,
which can easily be purchased at Walmart or online with a smartphone.
What’s Nearby?
In case you need a good, solid meal to get in the mood for
fishing or need to fuel up after a long day, there are a variety of restaurants
near the pier. McDonald’s, Popeyes, Waffle House, and Golden Corral are all
within a few blocks away, as well as a Kroger grocery store, so you can load
your cooler up with pier snacks. And of course, if you want to spend the rest
of your day lounging at the beach, you’re already there!
