Yaga’s Chili Fest and Beer Quest January 14 & 15

Calling all chili lovers! Do you need an excuse to sample chili from some of the best cooking teams in the area? And, how about pairing that with a beer? We’ve got you covered. So, book your Galveston getaway for the weekend of January 14. The fun begins with a 5K fun run on Saturday followed by the chili tasting from noon to 3 p.m. Tip: You can buy a chili and beer tasting combo ticket and enjoy both. 

Galveston Restaurant Week January 17 thru February 13

Here’s a bonus, Galveston restaurants are offering prix fixe meals as part of Galveston Restaurant Week beginning January 17 thru February 13. Look for two and three-course dinners for $20 to $45 and two-course lunches and breakfasts for $10 to $20. Plus, a portion of the price benefits charity. 

Mardi Gras

As the third largest Mardi Gras celebration in the United States, Mardi Gras Galveston attracts an estimated 300,000 attendees every year. The party covers the entirety of two weekends leading up to Fat Tuesday and features daily and nightly parades, dozens of concerts, balcony parties, masked balls, street vendors, and much more. For the nights of both weekends, downtown Galveston will be full of merriment, music, and good-natured mayhem.

Galveston’s Mardi Gras celebrations began in the late 1800s and quickly gained in size and popularity, becoming a nationwide phenomenon and continuing until the early 1940s, when the economic difficulties arising from escalation of World War II forced the city to abandon the yearly celebration. But in 1985, the party was restarted—and since then, it’s been going stronger than ever. Every year, visitors from all over the country make their way to downtown Galveston to eat and dance and be merry.

Galveston Island Craft Show and Galveston Corvette Expo

The Galveston Craft Show features All Handmade Items from 135 local artists and crafters. The Galveston event is all indoor and is a juried show. Crafters from across the south come to sell their beautifully handcrafted goods, each one unique and special. Held at the Galveston Island Convention Center, it also offers free parking in the parking garage.

The Galveston Craft Show is held in conjunction with the Corvette Chevy Expo. The two shows are premier events in Galveston and offer fun for the family.
