Where to Dine During Galveston’s Restaurant Week in February

Foodies are going to love February in Galveston. This year Galveston’s Restaurant Week is all month long and several restaurants are participating. During Galveston’s Restaurant Week, participating businesses offer a prix fixe menu at a discount. Restaurant Week dinner menus are 2 or 3-course meals ranging from $20 to $45. While breakfast, brunch, and lunch options are 2-course meals and range from $10 to $20.

If you’ve driven down Galveston’s Seawall Blvd., it’s hard to miss the enormous crab on the roof of Gaido’s Famous Seafood Restaurant, 3828 Seawall Blvd. Galveston Restaurant Week gives you an excuse to dine at this landmark restaurant, open since 1911. The $20 2-course lunch option offers a House Salad or Soup of the Day and a choice of Gulf of Mexico Shrimp, Country Fried Galveston Bay Oysters, and a Mahi Mahi Sandwich. And for dinner, enjoy a $35 3-course meal featuring a choice of Caesar Salad, House Salad, or Watkins Shrimp Bisque as the first course. For your second course, choose from Blackened Mahi Mahi, Oyster Combination Platter, and Crab Cake Stuffed Shrimp. And, you’ll finish dinner off with a choice of Pecan Crunch a la Mode and New York Cheesecake. We highly recommend the Pecan Crunch.

For those of you who prefer the east of the island, you’ll want to squeeze in time to make a reservation at Porch Cafe, 1625 East Beach Drive. Keep in mind this gem is only open on the weekends, Friday through Sunday. You can book a reservation via Open Table so take advantage of that app. The $20 brunch option, available Saturday and Sunday, offers a choice of Fried Green Tomatoes and Baked Goat Cheese for the first course and Eggs Benedict, Sweet Potato Gnocchi, and a Crab Cake Sandwich for the second course. The $40 dinner option, which is also available for takeout, offers Salmon Crostinis or Thai Salad to start the meal. For your entree, choose from NY Strip with Asparagus and Mashed Potatoes, Sweet Potato Gnocchi, and Shrimp & Grits. You’ll finish your meal with crème brûlée or tiramisu.
