Galveston Waterparks

If you’re looking for some good family fun, you can’t go wrong with the waterparks of Galveston Island. During the summer, along with Galveston’s beaches, both Schlitterbahn and Palm Beach at Moody Gardens are among the most popular attractions for visitors and locals alike. There is no better way to cool down and relax in the Texas heat!

Schlitterbahn Galveston Waterpark is one of the crowning jewels of Galveston Island, and visitors from all over the country have made this one of the most popular attractions in Texas. The park covers twenty-six acres and features more than thirty attractions, including an award-winning river system which encircles the entire park and provides endless hours of easy enjoyment for adventurers of all ages. Within the circle of the river, the park is jam-packed with fun at all intensity levels— from the laid-back to the extreme. For the major thrill-seekers, Schlitterbahn Galveston is home to the Guinness World Record’s tallest water coaster! This 81-foot, massive, twisty-turny water coaster is appropriately named “MASSIV”.

Heated pools, wave pools, whitewater rapids, boogie board rides, and more water slides than you can count – Schlitterbahn Galveston Waterpark has enough to keep the family entertained for the whole day. And when you’ve had enough of the water, you can relax in the shade of the pool-side cabanas while enjoying lunch and drinks. Visitors to the park are welcome to bring their own food, but keep in mind the two new places within the park offering delicious items on the spot. One is the Funnel Cake Factory—which has a variety of delicious sweets—and the other is the Texas Cheese Steak eatery, which serves up the classic cheesesteak Texas-style.

Schlitterbahn opens early for Spring Break and features the Wasserfest Indoor System—a 70,000 square-foot indoor park which features more than a dozen heated-water attractions.

Another favorite waterpark in Galveston Island is Palm Beach at Moody Gardens. Visitors to this park will enjoy the white-sand beaches and the family-friendly setting. Park attractions include a lazy river, eighteen-foot tower slides, and a wave pool. Given its location on the grounds of Moody Gardens, Palm Beach is a perfect place to take a break from the explorations offered by the Discovery Pyramid, the Rainforest Pyramid, the Aquarium Pyramid, and the IMAX Theater. For this reason alone, Palm Beach is the perfect attraction for families with children of all ages.
