2022 is going to be an amazing year for Porretto Beach!
Of course, Galveston’s main attraction is the ocean—the shore of which stretches over thirty miles and is a favorite hang-out for locals and visitors alike. From the wide stretches of East Beach, through the family-friendly and lifeguard-protected areas along the Galveston Seawall, and out to the smaller neighborhood beaches of the Galveston west end, there is plenty of room and relaxation for families of all sizes. But one of the best beaches in Galveston Island Texas, is a lesser known one, Porretto Beach
Porretto Beach is located in town by the Galveston Seawall, just West of Stewart Beach and Galveston’s East Beach. You can also find it by heading East from Galveston’s Historic Pleasure Pier. Porretto Beach has recently had a make-over. Years of plant overgrowth has been removed, revealing so much nice, fresh sand! You’ll want to experience this lovely beach for yourself! With the fourth generation of the Porretto family’s ownership, they continue their commitment initiated in the original acquisition of the property from the Galveston School District to preserve and protect Texas legacies and traditions by providing a historical, privately owned beach with a family-friendly environment intended for recreational and community purposes. Spearheaded by Henry Porretto Jr.’s youngest daughter, Sonya Porretto, “The Case” continues on while simultaneously reigniting beach operations.
With the upgrades on Porretto Beach coming to an exciting close, we are about to be at an even more exciting time, the opening! We at Porretto Beach put in a huge amount of work in order to have our beach meet our great expectations and to provide vacationers with an experience they won’t forget.
Although going to the beach is an important part of the Galveston experience, it is definitely not the only component of it. The downtown area of Galveston has plenty of shops, restaurants, attractions, and entertainment to make your vacation one to remember! In just a half-mile radius, there is so much to see, do, and experience that we can’t list it all here.
Porretto Beach is open 8 A.M. to 8 P.M., 7 days a week.
There is parking right on the beach, so you’ll be just steps to the water! There is also parking nearby on the Seawall, just a few steps further.
Local Galveston residents will receive FREE PARKING on the beach, when available.
