#1 – The Beach: You’re on an island, so the beach is an absolute must. Don’t forget to bring your favorite beach chairs, beach towels, and don’t forget the sunblock. They use nineteenth-century recipes and authentic equipment for their soda fountain and candy shop. And, they make their ice cream using recipes from Galveston’s former Purity Ice Cream.
#4 Schlitterbahn Galveston. Well, you’ve been to the beach, so now make time for Schlitterbahn. If you’re adventurous, MASSIV in Blastenhoff is one of the tallest water coasters in the world. Or enjoy a relaxing time floating in their lazy river. Schlitterbahn divides the park into three sections. There are plenty of rides and activities to keep everyone entertained. They even offer cabana rentals. Tip: While food and drink are available for purchase, Schlitterbahn allows guests to bring their own picnic (excluding alcohol and glass containers).
#5 Moody Gardens Galveston. It’s pretty hard to miss the three pyramids across Offatts Bayou as you drive into Galveston from I-45. Moody Gardens is a family entertainment complex and is your final must-do during Labor Day weekend. Moody Gardens offers a Rainforest, Aquarium, and Discovery Museum. You’ll also find Palm Beach, the Colonel Paddlewheeler, an IMAX Theater, 4D Theater, and a Ropes Course. Moody Gardens also operates a Golf Course. You can easily spend an entire day there.
