Third Coast Music Festival

When Third Coast Music Festival held its inaugural year in 2018, it saw 40 bands come together in Galveston to celebrate music. Offering a wide diversity of genres, from blues to jazz to Cajun to Latin, Third Coast Music Festival has established itself as a must-attend event for music lovers who find themselves on the island.

A Multi-Venue Festival

Unlike other music festivals that take place in a field among a sea of tents, Third Coast Music Festival takes place at multiple venues throughout Galveston. Some of the past hosts include Bubba’s on the Strand, Yaga’s Cafe, Beach Central, and the Old Quarter Acoustic Cafe. This diversity of venue means that Third Coast Music Festival has the freedom to host events that are either 21+ or all ages. Some of the festival events are free. There are even some shows that are children-oriented.

Music City

Despite its status as a smaller city and a resort town, Galveston has a surprisingly rich musical history, making it an appropriate location for a music festival. Not only was the town immortalized in country singer Glen Campbell’s 1969 hit “Galveston,” but touring bands have also found hospitable crowds in the beachside town for years. Now, thanks to the Third Coast Music Festival, new bands are invited to come from near and far to leave their musical mark on the city. At the last year of the festival, 50 shows were played by 40 bands at the festival. Some of these bands included the Powell Brothers, Robert Kuhn, Jack Ingram, and Fingerpistol.

More Than Just a Festival: A VIP Party

The Third Coast Festival offers guests the opportunity to take part in a VIP experience that grants them access to exclusive events and performances. VIP ticket holders also benefit from seating that is closest to the stage. While general admission tickets are $25, a VIP admission will set you back $125. There are only a limited number of VIP tickets available.

Third Coast Festival

The Bathing Beauties Contest is part of the Third Coast Music Festival. The contest features vintage swimwear modeling in an ode to beauty competitions of years passed, of which there is a history in Galveston that dates back to 1920.
